Celebrate Manufacturing Day with YouTube marathon

The first ever Manufacturing Day will happened on Oct. 5. You can celebrate belatedly for now with a Youtube marathon of all things manufacturing and again on Oct. 18, with a tour of Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus, Neb.

The Manufacturing Day website has a number of resources on it including some videos about manufacturing that can be found on the Internet. We thought we’d include a few links to those as well as some other manufacturing videos of interest.

How It’s Made

Many are familiar with the Discovery channel’s “How It’s Made,” which took viewers through the making of hundreds of manufactured products from raw materials to completion. A number of these can still be found on Youtube, you’ve just got to do a quick search.

Heroes of American Manufacturing (8:33)

Spotlighting a manufacturing company, this video gives a good representation of what the independent manufacturer in America is doing and how they succeed through innovation.

Edge Factor Gnarly Metal (31:56)

If you’re looking to find out how mountain bikes are made and watch some incredible X-games quality mountain biking, look no further than Edge Factor.

Max and Ben’s Adventures in Manufacturing Adventures

These videos don’t have the highest production value, but Max and Ben do the job. They tour different manufacturers and get a kids perspective on what different manufacturers are doing and what they can do to prepare for jobs in manufacturing.
